HA HA HA funniest/best part of this episode.
The best part is how it begins to illustrate that this man was meant to be a part this family.
All of them.
They have spent a lot of time showing just how alike Emma and Charming are, how she is her father’s daughter, etc. And then SURPRISE! along comes this sassy pirate and they both react the exact same way: huffy exasperation growing into tenuous trust then respect and finally romance/bromance. From the start, they were all able to find an oddly fitting rhythm together, even really before they actually liked each other. And as they all have become closer, and trust has formed and grown, it’s evident that Killian has a place in this unit and this is all just the groundwork for the future. Yanno, the future when he fully becomes a member of the family. And I die from feels.
Because this family needs him as much as he needs them. He adds to them, makes them broader, better people. He makes them think beyond their ginormous sense of duty sometimes, and that it’s ok to throw out the rule book from time to time. He supports them and teases them and pushes them when they need to be pushed.
Basically, he does something I’m not sure a lot of people do: treats them like peers. He’s not intimidated or put-off by their royal status, he sees and treats them as people, both flawed and human. The Charmings need this.
Not to mention, he shares the most important quality of a member of the Charming Family: the ability to love selflessly and in Titanic proportions.
Viva la Charming-Jones family.
